The Cirrus SR22 is a single engine, four to five seat light aircraft with a composite airframe that Cirrus Design introduced in 2001, built as a faster, longer range companion to the smaller Cirrus SR20. It is best known for making a whole airframe parachute recovery system, deployable to lower the entire aircraft and its occupants to the ground in an emergency, a standard rather than optional feature, and it went on to become one of the best selling piston aircraft in the world.
