Infrastructure Type

This dimension groups transport infrastructure by the kind of structure it actually is, a station, a bridge, a canal or otherwise. Wikipedia notes that infrastructure includes "public and private physical structures such as roads, railways, bridges, airports, public transit systems, tunnels, water supply, sewers, electrical grids, and telecommunications," a genuinely wide range of physical forms. Browsing by infrastructure type keeps comparable structures together regardless of which transport network they serve.

The first truly successful container shipping company dates to April 26, 1956, when American trucking entrepreneur McLean put 58 trailer vans later called containers, aboard a refitted tanker ship, the SS Ideal X, and sailed them from Newark, New Jersey, to Houston, Texas.
