Felixstowe F.2

The Felixstowe F.2 was a British flying boat developed during the First World War by Lieutenant Commander John Cyril Porte at the Seaplane Experimental Station in Felixstowe. It married an improved, more seaworthy hull of Porte's own design to the wings and structure of a larger Curtiss flying boat, and entered service in 1917 flying anti submarine and reconnaissance patrols over the North Sea. Its hull shape proved so effective on the water that it became a foundational influence on flying boat design for decades afterward.
