The Beriev Be-12 is a Soviet twin turboprop amphibious flying boat built by Beriev from the late 1950s for the Soviet Navy. It was developed for anti-submarine patrol and search and rescue over open water, and its distinctive gull shaped wing keeps the engines and propellers clear of spray during takeoff and landing. The type set numerous world records for amphibious aircraft that stood for decades.
