The Rocketdyne F-1 is a liquid propellant rocket engine Rocketdyne developed in the late 1950s for NASA's heaviest lift needs, remaining the most powerful single combustion chamber liquid propellant rocket engine ever developed. Five F-1 engines powered the S-IC first stage of every Saturn V, the launch vehicle of the Apollo program, and their combined thrust was essential to lifting the payloads that carried astronauts to the Moon.
