Chrysler Hemi engine

The Chrysler Hemi is a series of high performance American overhead valve V8 engines built by Chrysler with hemispherical combustion chambers, a shape that gives an efficient surface to volume ratio, minimal heat loss to the cylinder head and room for two large valves per cylinder, at the cost of greater manufacturing complexity and weight. Chrysler built three generations: the FirePower series of 1951 to 1958, the legendary 426 cubic inch racing and street engine of 1964 to 1971, and a current generation beginning in 2003, and the Hemi became iconic in American muscle car culture.
