The Ford Modular engine is an overhead camshaft V8 and V10 gasoline engine family Ford Motor Company introduced in 1990 for the 1991 model year, spanning displacements from 4.6 to 6.8 liters. It replaced Ford's decades old V8 architectures, its initial 4.6 liter version lighter and more powerful than the 5.0 liter engine it succeeded while also delivering better fuel economy, and it became Ford's primary gasoline V8 and V10 powerplant across Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles in naturally aspirated, supercharged and specially tuned variants.
