The Boeing 727 is a narrow body, three engine jet airliner that entered service in 1963, designed with rear mounted engines and a T tail to allow operation from shorter runways than earlier jets required. It became one of the best selling commercial jet airliners of the twentieth century before production ended in 1984, serving as a workhorse of short and medium haul routes for airlines worldwide.
