China Railways HXD1

Diesel and Electric Locomotives

The HXD1 is a Chinese heavy-duty electric locomotive built as a twin-unit type, with each unit carrying a Bo′Bo′ axle arrangement for a combined Bo′Bo′+Bo′Bo′ configuration. Developed for China Railway's heaviest freight corridors, it was part of China's early 2000s push to build domestically operated high-power electric locomotives for coal and bulk freight haulage.
