The WDM-3A is a class of diesel-electric locomotive developed in 1993 by Banaras Locomotive Works for Indian Railways, a later classification of the earlier WDM-2C, entering service in 1994. More than 140 were newly built at Banaras and the American Locomotive Company between 1994 and 2003, and with additional units rebuilt from the WDM-2 the class became India's most numerous mainline diesel locomotive type until the later WDG-4.
