TRAXX is a family of electric and diesel locomotives developed by Bombardier Transportation, later part of Alstom, from the early 2000s, built as a modular platform that can be configured for different voltage systems, signaling equipment and power types to suit the operator ordering it. This modular, multi system design let TRAXX locomotives cross national borders within Europe more easily than many older locomotive classes tied to a single country's electrification standard, and the family has been bought by freight and passenger railways across Germany, Italy, Sweden, the Benelux countries and beyond.
