SS Winifredian was a British cargo liner built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast for Frederick Leyland and Company, launched on 11 March 1899 as yard number 324 and completed that July. She measured 10,405 gross register tons, was 552.5 feet long, and had a single screw driven by a triple-expansion engine rated at 5,500 indicated horsepower that gave her 14 knots. She was designed to carry 820 head of cattle and 140 passengers, all in second-class accommodation, with a small refrigerated space in her holds that was enlarged twice in her first fifteen years. She worked mainly between Liverpool and Boston, carried troops and horses in the Second Boer War and the First World War, and survived striking a mine in 1917. She arrived at Genoa in May 1929 to be broken up.
