This dimension groups a mode of transport by the year in which it first appeared. Even a single mode can trace surprisingly far back, since "in 1649, Hans Hautsch of Nuremberg built a clockwork-driven carriage," long before anything resembling a modern vehicle, as Wikipedia records.
