The Mitsubishi Fuso Aero Star is a heavy-duty single-decker bus produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi Fuso, available as a public bus or a coach. Its principal competitors are the Isuzu Erga, the Nissan Diesel Space Runner RA and the Hino Blue Ribbon. It follows Fuso's full-size city buses of 1950 to 1976, including the MR series, announced in 1959 as Japan's first route bus with a frameless monocoque structure, powered by an inline six-cylinder DB31 engine of 165 PS, and the MP series of 1976 to 1984. The first Aero Star series ran from 1984 to 1996 and the second from 1996 to the present, with a non-step low-floor version from 1997, a hybrid electric version from 2004 and, from 2010, a 6M60 engine with an Allison six-speed automatic. It is sold in Australia as the Fuso School Bus and City Bus, was sold as the UD Trucks Space Runner A from 2007 to 2011, and the Aero Star Eco Hybrid uses a series hybrid drive with two electric motors of 158 kW combined.
