The Mercedes-Benz Citaro CNG is the natural-gas version of the Mercedes-Benz Citaro city bus; CNG stands for compressed natural gas. The buses are built as standard rigid or articulated vehicles and are sold by EvoBus. The fuel is stored compressed at 200 bar in plastic tanks on the roof, each holding a good 30 kg of gas and wrapped in a carbon-fibre-reinforced shell. The engine is a six-cylinder four-stroke spark-ignition unit. The German article gives passenger capacities of 77 seated and standing places for the standard bus and 136 for the articulated bus. It is a variant of the Citaro line rather than a separate generation.
