The Mercedes-Benz Citaro is a German low-floor city bus built by Mercedes-Benz, introduced in 1997 and produced since in solo, articulated and double-articulated body lengths to serve a wide range of urban route demands. Built with a low-floor design to speed boarding and improve accessibility for wheelchair users and passengers with strollers, a standard feature Mercedes-Benz helped popularize across European city bus fleets, the Citaro became one of the best-selling city buses in Europe over its multiple generations. Mercedes-Benz has progressively extended the Citaro line into hybrid and, with the eCitaro introduced in 2018, fully battery-electric variants, allowing operators to keep a familiar body and chassis platform while transitioning their fleets away from diesel propulsion.
