Renault ZP

The Renault ZP is a bus and coach designed by Renault and produced from 1934 to 1941, with 21 to 36 seats depending on its chassis length. It was introduced by Renault at the same time as the type ABF truck, which uses the same cab; the engine axis is offset 6 cm to the right to fit the driver's seat to the left of the engine, and in 1936 the ZP adopted a new cab shape, also used on the AGK trucks and derivatives. It is powered by the same petrol engine as the ABF, a four-cylinder of 5.9 litres giving 99 hp at 2,400 rpm, and the ZPDE, the diesel version released in 1935, has a four-cylinder of 8.4 litres tuned for 90 hp at 1,600 rpm. The ZPAE has a top speed of 80 km/h and the ZPDE reaches 65 to 70 km/h. Two lengths were available, up to 8.57 metres, seating 23 to 28 or 31 to 36 passengers on tiered seats. In French Algeria the mobile republican guard bought nine ZPAE in 1935 with armoured torpedo bodies to carry forty armed men, and after the war Renault launched the 215D based on the ZP.
