Renault ADJ

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Renault ADJ was a light motor coach built by Renault in the second half of the 1930s, produced from 1935 to 1939. It replaced the ZYAC and YFAC coaches and shared its engine with the ADH and ADR lorries, a four-cylinder inline unit available as a 65 horsepower petrol engine or a 45 horsepower diesel. As a light coach it carried 21 to 22 passengers. The ADJ1 had the petrol engine and ran from 1935 to 1939; the ADJ D1 diesel followed in 1936 and the ADJ DA1 diesel ran from 1936 to 1939, while the wood-gas ADJ H1 appeared in 1937 and the town-gas ADJ G1 in 1938. In 1937 the French Army ordered a series of 20 ADJ1 coaches to carry staff of the central administration and the military schools.
