Mercedes-Benz O371

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz O371 was a monocoque coach built in Brazil by Mercedes-Benz from the 1980s to the late 1990s. It replaced the O303 chassis in South America and was widely used there and in countries such as Mexico and Costa Rica. The vehicle was wholly a Mercedes-Benz product, but the chassis was also sent to bodybuilders including Marcopolo and Busscar. Coach versions ran from the O371R, with a 230 hp engine and spring suspension, through the O371RS and RSD with pneumatic suspension, to the O371RSL of 1992 to 1994, which used the new OM447LA engine. Urban versions included the small integral O371U, built from 1987 to 1994, the O371UL, and the O371UP, the most powerful integral Mercedes-Benz bus ever made, much used in Curitiba.
