The Mercedes-Benz O302 was a coach chassis built by Mercedes-Benz between 1965 and 1974. It was launched in May 1965 as the replacement for the O321, was made at the Mannheim plant and had a body designed in an austere Bauhaus style. It was sold both as a bare chassis and as an integral bus with a Mercedes-Benz body. More than 32,000 were built over eleven years, most of them as coaches and some as buses, before the O303 superseded it. A Turkish joint venture, Mercedes OTOMARSAN of Aksaray, derived an O302T model from the O302 and O305, and the article notes that for the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany each team travelled in a coach painted in its colours.
