The Isuzu BU-Series is a series of full-size buses that Isuzu built between 1962 and 1980. The first generation, sold from 1963 to 1972, began in February 1963 with coach versions powered by the 190 horsepower DH100H engine, with air brakes, a retarder and a horizontal rear underfloor engine, and wheelbases from 4.8 to 5.5 metres across the BU05, BU10, BU15 and BU20 models. Air suspension and a turbocharged 230 horsepower P-end model were offered, and four headlights were standard. The direct injection D920H engine became the most popular in the standard bus variants. The second generation, from 1972 to 1980, improved axle load, raised the E120H engine to 260 horsepower and added the BU35 with a 6 metre wheelbase. Production ended in 1980 when the Isuzu C succeeded it.
