Mercedes-Benz O 305 GT

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz O 305 GT was an articulated trolleybus from Daimler-Benz, based on the O 305 G standard city bus and closely related to the O 305 GTD dual-mode bus built at the same time. The electrical equipment came from BBC-Sécheron, and GT stands for articulated trolleybus. Five were built in 1982 and 1983: three went to Bergen with bodies from the Swiss company FBW, and the others were test cars in Solingen and Kaiserslautern. The two Kaiserslautern cars went in 1985 to the Basel trolleybus system, where they ran in regular service between autumn 1986 and February 2000, and then to BraČ™ov in Romania; both are now retired. Daimler-Benz replaced the type in 1986 with the O 405 GTZ, and from the mid-1980s concentrated more on developing dual-mode buses.
