The Fiat 2470 trolleybus is a model designed and made by the Italian maker Fiat Bus in Italy, on the basis of the Fiat 470 urban bus, and put into service from 1979. It marked the moment when Italian builders resumed making new trolleybus models, having abandoned the study of new ones for lack of demand from public transport services. It rested on a new generation low-floor chassis meeting all modern approval criteria and had a total length of 12.0 metres. With the change in the Italian highway code in 1974, the driving position returned normally to the left. It had four side doors, as the Italian specification required, but could be delivered with two or three for foreign users. It was made by the bus division of Fiat SpA and delivered in the standard Italian bright orange, with a body by SOCIMI on the standard Fiat 470 base. It was one of the most widespread new generation trolleybuses in Italy, with 135 in service, 70 of them at ATM Milan.
