Fiat 2405

The Fiat 2405F is a model of trolleybus made by the Italian maker Fiat Bus between 1957 and 1962. It succeeded the 11 metre two-axle Fiat 656F and the 12 metre three-axle Fiat 672F. It is based on the chassis of the Fiat 405 bus, of 10.4 and 11.0 metres with two axles, fitted with electric motors chosen by customers from the big names of Italian electrical industry, including Ansaldo, CGE, Marelli and Tecnomasio. It carried 98 passengers in all, 28 of them seated, plus the mechanic and the conductor. The bodies of the 11 metre version were generally made by Casaro, Menarini and Viberti, and the turning radius is 12 metres. An articulated 18 metre version, bodied by Macchi, was marketed in the same period. All the vehicles built stayed in service for more than 30 years, and many were then resold to other countries, including Greece, Turkey and the former Yugoslavia.
