The BYD K series is a line of battery electric buses made by the Chinese automaker BYD and powered by its own lithium iron phosphate battery, with a typical urban range of 250 kilometres per charge. It is sold in nominal lengths from 7.0 to 13.7 metres and as an 18 metre articulated bus, with the rear axle driven by two electric traction motors, an in-hub motor and reduction gear on each driven wheel. The first K series bus was built on 30 September 2010 in Changsha, and the K9, a 12 metre low-floor bus, became the best known model. Production has spread from Changsha to Tianjin, Lancaster in California, Dalian and Komarom in Hungary. Operators in China, the United States, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Oceania have bought the buses, which the B series superseded from 2020.
