The Daimler CVG5 was a British front-engined double-decker bus built by Daimler, introduced in 1946. Its name abbreviates Commercial Victory Gardner 5-cylinder, after the five-cylinder Gardner engine it was fitted with, and it used a half-cab layout with the driver beside the engine. When it appeared in 1946 it came in a single specification, with a wheelbase of 16 feet 4 inches (4.98 metres), a Gardner 5LW engine and a pre-selector gearbox. Its best-documented service was in Hong Kong, where Kowloon Motor Bus took its first double-deckers in the late 1940s and bought well over 300 CVG5 buses in three batches between 1949 and 1961, many of which served for more than twenty years before retirement in the 1980s. The CVG6, with a six-cylinder engine, followed it.
