Albion Venturer CX

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Albion Venturer CX was the double-decker bus chassis of the Albion CX range, built from 1937 to 1951 by Albion Motors of Scotstoun, Glasgow, as the successor to the original Venturer of 1932. The CX version of the Albion bus chassis was launched in 1937 and differed in having the engine and gearbox mounted together as one unit, rather than being joined by a separate drive shaft. Albion's own range of diesel engines was also made available; diesel engines had been offered since 1933, at first from Gardner. The first Venturer was Albion's first double-decker, with 51 and later 55 seats, so the CX carried the same name and the same double-deck layout through the late 1930s and into the early postwar years.
