Volkswagen Volksbus

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Volkswagen Volksbus is a range of step-floor city bus chassis produced by the Brazilian manufacturer Volkswagen Truck and Bus from 1993 to the present day. Today the maker builds bus chassis in the 5 to 18 tonne category as microbuses, minibuses, midibuses and coaches, the majority powered by MWM engines. The article lists the range by model number, with front-engined D and rear-engined T versions and electronic E variants, from the 8.140 CO to the 18.320 EOT, and a current range of microbus, minibus, medium and coach chassis. Because only the chassis is supplied, all bodies are assembled by private coachbuilders to the desired configuration, such as school bus, shuttle bus, tour bus or coach. Main users include South American, Mexican, South African and Kenyan body manufacturers such as Marcopolo, Irizar, Caio Induscar and Busmark 2000.
