Renault SU

The Renault SU is a bus designed by Renault and the Societe de construction et d'entretien de materiel industriel et agricole (SCEMIA) in the 1920s. It was produced from 1927 to 1929. Designed in partnership with SCEMIA, it has a lowered chassis, thanks notably to the specific rear axle that appeared on the Renault PN. The overall length of the bare chassis is 9,500 mm and the wheelbase 5,640 mm. The rear tyres are twinned, the rear track is 1,823 mm and the front track 1,730 mm. Depending on the layout the SU can carry 40 to 50 passengers. The six-cylinder engine of 110 by 160 mm and 40 hp sits under the driver's seat, a forward-control layout, and the servo-operated braking works on all four wheels.
