The Mercedes-Benz OF 1620 was introduced in 1994 and had a short life because its front engine made access awkward in urban traffic. It nonetheless found some acceptance in cities such as Rosario and in Jujuy province, though not in the Federal Capital, which no longer allowed high-floor front-engine buses. It came in two configurations, normal and long, with a bus body built on the chassis. Its engine is the OM 366 LA, a turbocharged four-stroke direct-injection diesel of 5,958 cubic centimetres and six cylinders giving 200 CV at 2,600 rpm, with a manual five-speed gearbox, air suspension and a stated top speed of 110 km/h.
