Mercedes-Benz LO 1114

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz LO 1114 was a bus chassis built from 1968 to 1988 by Mercedes-Benz Argentina, a purely local development of that subsidiary of Daimler-Benz. It was presented in 1970 as a bodybuildable variant of the L1114 truck chassis, following the LO 911 and LO 1112, and used the naturally aspirated six-cylinder OM 352 diesel engine of about 145 horsepower. Power steering arrived in 1978 and an automatic gearbox and air brakes in 1982, and three wheelbases were offered. The chassis was exported to Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. With 29,025 built in 18 years it was the most produced and most successful city bus in Argentine industrial history, and the OC 1214 front-engine chassis was derived from it.
