The Bedford VAM was a front-engined coach chassis with a front entrance that Bedford began producing in August 1965. It was offered with a range of engines under different model codes, among them a 300 cubic inch petrol unit in the VAM3, a 330 cubic inch diesel in the VAM5, a Leyland 400 cubic inch diesel in the VAM14 and Bedford 466 and 500 cubic inch diesels in the VAM70 and VAM75. The chassis was sold widely in the United Kingdom and in export markets including Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, and the Bedford Y series was announced in 1970 to replace it.
