Albion Viking

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Albion Viking was a bus chassis built by Albion from 1963 to 1980. The front-engined VK41 appeared in 1963 as the replacement for the Albion Victor VT, and a rear-engined VK43 followed in 1965, with the VK49, VK55 and VK57 versions coming later. When Albion closed its Scotstoun plant in October 1980, production moved to Leyland and the chassis was relaunched as the Leyland Super Viking, which stayed in production until 1984. A few were sold in the United Kingdom, notably to the Scottish Bus Group, but most went overseas, including to Barbados, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Australia, where it was popular with safari tour operators.
