Albion Royal Scot

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Albion Royal Scot was a specialised 6x4 dirt-road bus built by Albion Motors in 1959, with a 15.2 litre underfloor engine. Twenty were built for South African Railways. It was made at the Scotstoun works in Glasgow in the years when Albion belonged to Leyland Motors, and it sat alongside the Talisman TA, a front-engined 6x4 built the same year for Rhodesian Railways, among the small number of heavy export buses Albion produced for unmade roads in southern Africa. Albion exported buses more widely, to Asia, East Africa, Australia, India and South Africa.
