The Renault PR 118 was the articulated, 18 metre long version of the PR 112 city bus, a member of the PR 100 family produced by Berliet and then Renault between 1970 and 1999. The PR 112 was the last of the family and went on sale in 1993; the PR 118 came out the same year with the same restyled front and also carried marker lights. The PR 100 family was the first French rear-engined bus built in large series, designed for one-person operation with entry at the front, and its model names reflect its capacity of 100 places and its lengths of 12 metres for the standard buses and 18 metres for the articulated ones. The family article lists the PR 118 among the articulated buses with a diesel engine.
