Mercedes-Benz O 405 GN

The Mercedes-Benz O 405 GN is a low-floor articulated city bus from Daimler-Benz and the articulated variant of the O 405 N solo bus that appeared about two years earlier. Its precursor lacked the step to the rear section that the first O 405 N had, with steps only at the rear door area. From 1993 a second series of the N was built about ten centimetres longer at the rear to hold exhaust cleaning, and from 1994 the O 405 GN2 was developed with lower front windows and no platforms between the first two axles. It is a pusher articulated bus with the engine, mostly a diesel, mounted under the floor at the rear driving the last axle. A natural gas version, the O 405 GNG, could be ordered from 1994.
