Mercedes-Benz CapaCity

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Mercedes-Benz CapaCity is a four-axle, low-floor articulated bus for city service, built in series at Mannheim since April 2007 by Daimler Buses, formerly EvoBus. It was first shown in November 2005 and is designed for routes with heavy passenger loads, with room for 176 to 193 passengers, of whom 37 to 45 sit and 133 to 156 stand. The first generation, built until early 2015, is 19.54 m long with three or four doors, and a second generation with a Euro VI engine arrived in 2015, first as the 21.0 m CapaCity L and then in a 19.73 m standard length. Because it exceeds the permitted length of 18.75 m it needs a special permit for public service, and the steered fourth axle in the trailer raises the permitted total mass to 32 tonnes. An inline six-cylinder diesel drives the third axle.
