A tandem bicycle is a bicycle built to carry two or more riders in a line, each pedaling from their own seat and typically sharing a single chain and drivetrain so all riders pedal in unison. Built since the late nineteenth century for touring, racing and recreational riding, tandems have also been adapted for pairing a sighted rider with a visually impaired one, letting the second rider cycle without being able to see the road.
