A quadracycle is a human-powered road vehicle with four wheels, propelled by one or more riders pedaling in the same fashion as a bicycle or tricycle. Quadracycles are most commonly built as multi-seat vehicles for group riding, such as the pedal-powered surrey bikes rented at parks and boardwalks, where the extra wheels and wider frame provide stability for several riders pedaling together. The type is distinct from early motorized quadricycles built by automobile pioneers, which used the same basic four-wheeled layout but substituted an engine for pedal power.
