A cycle rickshaw, also called a pedicab, is a small human-powered vehicle in which a driver pedals a tricycle-like frame to carry one or more passengers seated behind or beside them. Developed in the twentieth century as a pedaled alternative to the earlier hand-pulled rickshaw, it became a common form of short-distance taxi service across cities in South and Southeast Asia and has since spread to tourist and urban transport use in cities worldwide.
