Larry Shinoda

Lawrence Kiyoshi Larry Shinoda, born on 25 March 1930 and died on 13 November 1997, was an American automotive designer best known for his work on the Chevrolet Corvette and the Ford Mustang. He was born in Los Angeles, California, to parents who had both emigrated from Japan, and during World War II he was interned with his mother, sister and maternal family at the Manzanar War Relocation Camp in California. As a young man he built hot rods and raced them on the streets of Los Angeles, and after serving in the Air National Guard, including sixteen months in Korea, he studied at the Art Center College of Design.
