Ed Cole

Edward Nicholas Cole, known as Ed Cole, lived from 17 September 1909 to 2 May 1977 and was an American inventor, automotive engineer and executive. The source lead says he is widely known for leading critical projects for General Motors, including development of the Chevrolet Corvair and Chevrolet Vega, the development of GM's Small Block V8 and its rotary engine, championing the catalytic converter to move cars away from leaded gasoline, and advocating for air bags. He served as President of General Motors from 1967 through 1974. The lead gives no detail on his early career or on how any single project was carried out.
