Andre Citroen

French industrialist who founded the Citroen automobile company in 1919 and applied American-style mass production methods to the European car industry, growing it into one of the continent's largest manufacturers by the early 1930s. He is also remembered for popularizing double helical gearing, later adopted as Citroen's own company emblem.
