The Volkswagen EA211 is a family of inline-three and inline-four petrol engines with variable valve timing that Volkswagen Group developed in 2011, also called its modular gasoline engine kit; EA stands for development order. All of them are four-stroke engines with a dual overhead camshaft drive, and the family includes the 1.0 litre three-cylinder, the 1.2 and 1.4 litre TSI, the 1.5 litre TSI Evo and the 1.6 litre MPI. In 2017 the brand introduced the upgraded EA211 Evo, which supports conventional engines, mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids, and in 2023 Skoda Auto took control of EA211 development, having produced the engine in Mlada Boleslav since 2012. Applications include the Volkswagen up!, Golf VII, Polo, T-Roc and T-Cross, as well as Skoda, SEAT and Audi models.
