The Nissan Y is a family of V8 engines designed and produced by Nissan between 1965 and 1990 for limousines, and the Nissan VH engine replaced it in 1990. The Y40 was a water-cooled overhead valve V8 of 4.0 L with two valves per cylinder and a four-barrel carburettor, produced for the Nissan President limousine from 1965 to 1973 and also used in the Cedric Patrol Y130 series. The Y44 was an overhead valve V8 with 16 valves for the President from 1974 to 1989, and from 1975 it used electronic fuel injection when Nissan introduced its NAPS emission technology. It was developed before the merger with the Prince Motor Company and is not directly related to Prince's W64 V8.
