The Nissan VQ is a family of V6 petrol engines that Nissan developed to replace its older VG series, built in displacements from 2.0 L to 4.0 L. It uses an all-aluminium design with four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts, and it debuted with Nissan's EGI/ECCS sequential multi-point fuel injection. Compared with the VG it switched from a timing belt to a timing chain and moved the water pump inside the timing cover. Later versions added variable valve timing, and the NEO-Di versions replaced port injection with direct injection. Only the VQ25DE and VQ35DE carry Renault badges, as the V4U and V4Y. The family was named to Ward's 10 Best Engines list a record fourteen years in a row, from the list's start until 2008.
