The Nissan VH series consists of 4.1 and 4.5 litre V8 engines built by the Nissan Motor Corporation from 1989 to 2001. The design is a 90 degree V8 with an aluminium cylinder block that has a closed upper deck and a deep skirt. The aluminium cylinder heads have double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and pentroof combustion chambers. Production blocks and cylinder heads were used successfully in various forms of racing, including the IRL. It is a separate family from the later VK V8, which the VK article says was originally based on the VQ V6 rather than on the VH.
