The Nissan VE is a 3.0 L V6 based on the VG engine that was used only for the 1992, 1993 and 1994 model years. It has an iron block, aluminium cylinder heads with four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts, variable valve timing on the intake camshafts, coil-on-plug ignition and an available variable intake manifold on five-speed cars. Compression ratio is 10.0:1, bore 87.0 mm and stroke 83.0 mm. Its heads differ most from the VG30DE: low underhood clearance in the 1992 to 1994 J30 Nissan Maxima demanded valve angles of 30 degrees rather than 46 and a special chain drive, with one primary and two secondary chains driving the camshafts.
