Nissan RB engine

Automotive Engines

The Nissan RB is a family of oversquare straight-six petrol engines that Nissan built from 1985 to 2004, in displacements from 2.0 to 3.0 L. It followed the VG V6 range and belongs to Nissan's PLASMA engine naming family. Single-cam versions have two valves per cylinder and twin-cam versions have four, all with an aluminium head, a cast iron block and belt-driven cams. The design derives from the six-cylinder L20A, which shares the RB20's bore and stroke, and all RB engines were made in Yokohama. Most turbo versions are intercooled. Since 2019 Nismo has produced new RB26 blocks and heads in small numbers as part of its Heritage Series.
