The Nissan KA is a series of four-stroke inline-four petrol piston engines made by Nissan and offered in 2.0 and 2.4 L sizes. The blocks are cast iron and the cylinder heads are aluminium. Despite their large capacity the engines have no balance shafts. In passenger cars both versions of the KA24 use a crankshaft girdle in place of individual main bearing caps, while the Nissan Hardbody and Frontier applications do not use a girdle. The English Wikipedia article describes the construction of the family and does not give its years of production.
